Action Fund: Expand Postsecondary Outcomes Data Use
The Action Fund helps states expand the use of postsecondary outcomes data to prepare students better for the transition to higher education and the workforce.
How Does It Work?
Members of the K12 Community of Practice (K12 CoP) Forum can submit a project outline to receive training and coaching to define a detailed project scope that demonstrates how your agency would make postsecondary outcomes data more available, accessible, and usable for local decision-makers.
Funding will be awarded to state and nonprofit organizations that have demonstrated their capacity and readiness to implement projects that increase access to postsecondary outcomes data at the local level and enable local decision-makers to use this data to improve student pathways to college or the workforce.
The Action Fund will have three phases:
- Phase I – State and nonprofit organizations that are members of the K12 COP submit a brief project outline to express their interest in participating in the Action Fund.
- Phase II – Eligible applicants will receive training and coaching coordinated by QIP to define a detailed project scope that demonstrates how to increase access and use of postsecondary outcomes data at the local level, enabling local decision-makers to use this data to improve student pathways to college or the workforce.
- Phase III – Projects that meet eligibility and project scope submission requirements will receive funding.
Apply for funding to initiate projects that address priority challenges to further the effective use of postsecondary outcomes data.
Priority challenges might include
- the availability of quality dual enrollment data;
- tracking postsecondary outcomes for transfer students;
- figuring out the best way to communicate key outcomes to K12 partners;
- connecting non-degree credentials to student outcomes;
- difficulty in accessing and linking data across different state systems;
- connecting postsecondary outcomes to workforce data;
- training key K12 partners to use postsecondary outcomes data effectively;
- defining and analyzing the success rates of financial-aid award recipients; and
- determining the current accessibility of postsecondary outcomes data.
Eligibility Requirements
To participate in the Action Fund, applicants must be
- a member of the K12 CoP Forum;
- a government or 501c3 agency that handles state-level postsecondary outcome data; and
- able to designate a team member to participate in at least one virtual coaching session and complete online trainings designed to strengthen your project scope.
